March Hare is more or less an OC, intended to be the Chain of the same name from the Pandora Hearts series, in human form for residence in the [community profile] pandoraheartsdr. Her PB is Cecile from the manga Gosick.

I have crafted Hare's personality primarily from canon information about her contractor, Liam Lunettes. Liam is a sensible, hard-working young man who is devoted to those he cares for -- and is also prone to freaking out in stressful situations. Precisely because he is so reliable, he is often taken advantage of, and everyone around him is quite open about the fact that he is far better suited to behind-the-scenes deskwork than any of the real action in the series. I have mirrored these attributes in Hare with her big heart and her desire to be helpful to those she cares for, as well as her thoughtful nature.

However, she also feels the jibes about being useless far more strongly than her contractor does. Liam, at least, is a practical assistant to his master and around Pandora; he also assists Xerxes Break after he goes blind and occasionally provides information for other characters offscreen. Hare, however, is only a Chain; all she really has is her ability, that of the False Death -- and this ability is rarely called upon. Indeed, part of its power depends upon its being kept secret, and so for the most part she is portrayed as not having any real abilities at all. Liam is comfortable with the Hare as his Chain and Hare herself has accepted the fact that she will never be a big, strong fighter, like most of the other Chains, but what she sees as her own helplessness still troubles her. She is somewhat at a loss as to how she can be there for those she loves, and she is very afraid that she doesn't do enough.

Because hares are often easily startled creatures in nature, I play Hare as being very timid and shy; in effect, she has massive, sometimes crippling anxiety. She is overwhelmed by loud situations with lots of people, such as parties or festivals, and this makes it difficult for her to leave the mansion by herself. Hare is aware of this flaw and wishes to change it, and spends a great deal of time searching out little tricks to teach herself how to be braver. She speaks with a stutter, often repeating entire words -- this stutter fades when she is with her beloved Mad Hatter, with whom she feels her most comfortable, and when she is too angry or upset to remember to be nervous about what she has to say.

Since arriving at the mansion, she has been able to branch out a bit and discover her own joys and hobbies. Of particular interest to her are quilting, because she likes the simple, orderly patterns on them and the way you get a practical item when you are done with your quilt, and reading. Though at first she stuck close to Liam's own taste in books, she has discovered children's literature while in the mansion, and has been struck by the simple, profound truths she is able to find. Her favorites include The Velveteen Rabbit and Winnie the Pooh -- she relates quite a lot to Piglet -- and she would someday like to be as brave and smart and wonderful as Hermione Granger. Lately, she toys with the idea of writing her own stories, but she wonders if she really has anything that is very important to say.

Although Hare generally appears to be a timid, sweet, shy, petite young woman who feels badly when she feels she has spoken out of turn, it is important to remember that March Hare is, in fact, a Chain. She enjoys vegetables and cake, but under the right circumstances, she also enjoys human blood. As a creature of the Abyss, part of her strong bond with the Mad Hatter is the fact that Hatter will occasionally eat offensive people or things on her behalf, a thought which pleases her; and, when provoked into speaking her mind, she can be incredibly ruthless. She also lacks much by way of a human concept of modesty. Bodies are bodies and sex is a part of reality, and Hare is nowhere near as flustered by these things as she is by, say, being given a present for no reason.

Lastly, just for fun, Hare's bedroom in the mansion looks something like this:

Permissions:

Light Affection: If Hare likes your character enough to allow them to get that close in the first place, touch is probably welcome.

Sexytimez: Sorry, folks. Hare is a hopeless romantic -- the sort who draws hearts around initials and pines from afar and never speaks to crushes. If you want to get a piece of her bunny butt, be prepared to court her extensively, and you will be judged in comparison to Mr. Darcy.

Fighting: Hare is not a fighter and knows it, and will avoid any and all fights as hard as possible.

With the Ouching and the Hurting: Please don't. I am willing to write out scenes such as this with other characters, but Hare is a little too fragile to deal with such things without a lot of thought.

About the Mun:

I am up at random hours so time-zone is irrelevant. Mostly, I rely on backtagging. When I am at my best I attempt to answer all of my tags once a day, but as of now -- think between January and June of 2012 -- that isn't happening due to real life constraints, so please be patient with me! I play multiple characters and am often scatterbrained enough that I must sometimes focus on only a few threads at a time, so it may be a couple of days between tags, but it is very rare that I drop threads. Likewise, even if it has been a few days since you tagged me, tag me anyway. No apologies necessary!
